Its come to my attention in recent years that the name Dave seems to be the first port of call for comedians, scriptwriters and the advertising industry when wanting to ridicule a character or portray stupidity. If its not a unicycling guinea pig in an advert then its a dopey mechanic in a Harry Enfield sketch. Your probably aware they even named a comedy channel Dave. Well can I just point out that we’re not all stupid and I’m sure Dave Attenborough, Dave Bowie, Dave Lynch, Dave Mitchell and Dave Beckham (Actually scrap that last one!) would agree. I’m sad to say admittedly I googled ‘famous Dave’s’ but when I looked at the famousedaves.com website it turned out to be a bistro in New York!

Any way you will be asking where is this all going. Basically I did a shoot recently at the Nursing college in Gloucester and low and behold the artificial man that the student nurses practice on is surprise surprise called ‘Dave’ . It’s true he has flawless features, he is full of state of the art technology, worth tens of thousands of pounds and spends his whole day lounging around being waited on hand and foot, but ultimately he’s just another dummy called ‘Dave’!

A great day was had recently with Richard from Picador Design www.picadordesign.co.uk and Chris from Gripfast at the National Composites Centre, Bristol. We photographed the new range of composite planks Chris is producing which could be the future for industrial and domestic flooring. Thanks to both of you for all your hard work carrying the product up and down stairs.
